Who is that Masked Man?

When I'm not diligently working in a menial healthcare position, I'm writing, chatting, or surfing. I'm not much for sports, but I do enjoy the occasional night of bowling with good friends. I also donate some time to a local queer youth organization which was an integral part of my getting through difficult moments in my life. I owe that place a lot more than I could ever give back.
I'm currently deciding which career path I wish to pursue on a more permanent basis, and between the 60 hours a week I spend there and the amount of time I spend recovering from lack of sleep, sometimes all I have time for is sharing my creative ideas with you all.
Why Queer Youth Fiction and not Adult Fiction?
Why write about what I do? Well, there are a few reasons, really. First, my crappy childhood didn't leave me with too many fond memories, so this is a sort of "poetic justice," as they say, for my past. Secondly, theres a lot more to a story about two teenagers coming of age than there is of two adults. Sure, adults have trials, but they're ADULT... They can take care of themselves. They think rationally. They have the ability to get out of a bad situation. In short, they have an abundance of choices.
Teens, however, do not have so many choices. With every action they take, with what little choice they have, they must deal with what's around them. There's no "easy out." They can't just move somewhere new if things get difficult at home; at least, not with any degree of ease. They're pretty much bending to the will of the society in which they live. That, in turn, creates much more genuine conflict, emotional turmoil, and opens up pathways that a story about two adults just can't. Will I ever "graduate" to more adult characters? Well, to tell you the truth, I'm envisioning a sequel to "Love Transcending" where the characters are college age or older, though I don't see that story coming to light for several months, maybe even a couple years. So, that's just a piece or two of my writing mindset. I hope you enjoyed reading!
